THINGS TO DO WHILE AT BETHELLS
WALKS:
Beach, lake, waterfall, river and sand dunes.
This area is wonderous for those who enjoy the outdoors. From a leisurely beach stroll to a full day tramp there is much to see and do. Ark in the Park at Cascade Kauri Park is a 10 minute drive and 5 hour walk back to the beach through spectacular rainforest. Rare birds have been re-released.

SWIMMING:
Beach swimming only when the beach is patrolled. Labour Weekend - Easter. This coastline is untamed.
The lake is a 15 minute walk and truly worth it for a swim. The waterfall, at the head of the lake
(40 min walk) takes your breath away. The scenery and the temperature!!!
SURF:
O'Neills Beach is only accessible from Bethells Beach and renowned for its majestic surf. This little bay is also great for a picnic. Blue penguins and the rare spotted shag nest here.
GOLF:
Waitakere Golf Course is set in specacular surroundings in the Cascade Kauri Park, 10 minutes drive away. This 18 hole golf course aptly named 'Everest' for its challenging terrain is playable all year.

ARATAKI VISITORS CENTRE:
Well worth a visit if you are new to the area. It is a half an hour drive along Scenic Drive. It has great information, maps etc of the Waitakere area.
WINING AND DINING:
'Bethells Store' voted best cafe in Auckland's Metro Magazine. Outdoor cafe open in summer and sunny weekends throughout the year. Situated in the beach carpark across the road from Seagulls Rest.
